You Have Failed Me For The Last Time
If there's one thing I want people to take away from this comic, it's that your past choices can come back to bite you in the ass. This won't be nearly the worst example, either.
...But sometimes, we get off lucky, and Mom bails you out.
If I'm totally honest, I think that Ryan's dad is frankly a bit too mean and authority like, I mean seriously take a chill pill. WTF is his issue.
@SOABS: Sounds like something to do with Ryan's grades, haha.
But, it seems that Ryan would agree with you. Maybe you'll both luck out and his dad will be lenient.
My dad was a little like that while I was in school, but for some reason the older I go the more lenient he got as far as school went.
Weird, now that I'm thinking back on that. Perhaps he took pity on me? I made a poor student lol
@te-chan: Hmm maybe he finally accepted that, perhaps, traditional school work wasn't your strong suit (and that that's the case for many people who go on to be successes later in life).
I've noticed that parents worry a lot about what their kids' lives as adults will be like, and many try to come up with rigid "life plans" for their kids to follow as precautions. Breaking away from those plans can cause conflict, but, depending on the parent, they might lighten up if they see that you have your own plans/know what you're doing.
Of course, sometimes the parent is right and has correctly assessed their kid's strengths, or what they need to do. Whether that's the case with Ryan's dad, we'll have to see.
