Tried something different
Usually I reserve the bright colors for eyes and lights, but gotta make an exception for the good stuff.
Bwahaha, ohdear Ryan you never fail to make me laugh honestly. But like I'd do the same if I were him, because come on free food well dessert and better yet it's brownies.
So, is ryan using jay's cooking as an excuse to change a subject and not leave and/or come back, even if hes emotionally rejected by everyone he knows? I can't figure either one of them out. And whats up with Jay's fear that Ryan hates his shitty food? I'm so lost. Can someone explain what I am missing?
@Ralend: Haha, don't worry, I'm sure you're not the only one who's lost. It's hard to figure people out without reading their thoughts ^_^
I have a policy of not handholding readers through my stories, but I'll help you out by noting that Ryan definitely wants those brownies. Whether he's also making an excuse to stay or not, eh, you'll have to decide yourself.
I'm a bit confused myself about your Jay question; I'm assuming you're referring to the flashback scene in Part 3? If so, are you saying you don't understand why Jay would be down about someone not liking his cooking?
P.S. I'd also like to hear people's explanations about what's going on, XD
@YukixKaname1: Gotta get dem brownies~
what a hypocrite xD
@AdmiralBetas: Thanks for this. I think I am missing something obvious maybe. The flashback scene in part three, the one when he first cooked for Ryan, he was really down on himself for fixing it too spicy, which I understood.
In part 4, #154, hes still thinks his food sucks, even though Ryan is telling him it is. But he acts like its all a lie or something. Like, Ryan is telling him just what he wants to hear like when he eat his spicy chicken even when he didn't like it. I guess I imagine Ryan telling Jay his food is good just to pacify Jay, and keep his friendship, and Jay has caught on to "that face."
annnnnd since you're generously fielding reader questions XD here's another: Does Jay have Asperger's? If so, do you personally know someone with it, because you are spot-on with it.
Either way, as lost as I am, I really am enjoying your story.
@Ralend: OHH I getcha. No worries, I have no problem making clear that Ryan really does like Jay's food (he's grown to like spicy stuff). Jay was just freaked out at Ryan smiling. It happens so rarely (that was the first time he did it in the present time) I personally had difficulty looking directly at his face while drawing that page; had a weird mix of "aww" and "wtf", it's hard to explain. I guessed Jay would feel similarly, which is one reason why he wouldn't like Ryan in the kitchen.
Oh, I was wondering if and when someone would ask if Jay's not neurotypical. I have done some thinking on it myself, and it does seem possible. However, this was after the fact, and as of now, if he is somewhere on the spectrum, he hasn't been diagnosed as such.
Always interesting to speculate on that fine line between "has a weird personality" and "has a problem". I did actually know someone with Asperger's in college, for example, and he seemed no more atypical than anyone else in the anime club.
But yeah, stick around, all will be made clear in time.... :D
@M-24: Brownies > Integrity
RED VELVET Brownies >>>>>>> Integrity
I have never had red velvet brownies before but they sound (and look) tasty.
